Christingle Service

The Christingle service at Newnham Church was amazing. We had such a great time singing. We all thoroughly enjoyed it when we lit the candles and the church was dark, so all we saw were the flames in the darkness. It was a beautiful scene.

At school, we made the Christingles with oranges, sweets, cocktail sticks, red ribbons and of course a candle! As we made them ourselves, it was even more special. It was a time of reflection to think about Jesus as we sang 'The Candle Song' and remembered what he did for everyone. Holding a lit candle was an amazing experience, but we were very careful and safe. It would be good to use real flames again in the future. We all sang beautifully, even the parents joined in with our carols, such as Ding Dong Merrily On High, Away in A Manger and Come All Ye Faithful.

We are so thankful that we were able to do our Christingle at the church - it was a real community feel. We hope that we can do the same next year.
